Brand service guide homeowners
Fireplace, pool heater and water heater brands we service
The brand on your appliance shapes how it is built, which parts it uses and how it should be maintained. EmberRise Pro services 28 well-known fireplace, stove, pool heater and water heater brands. We are an independent service company, not an authorized dealer for any manufacturer, and this guide explains what that means for you and how to get the right help for your equipment.
Independent brand service, explained plainly
When we say we service a brand, we mean our technicians repair, clean, maintain and troubleshoot that equipment. We do not sell on behalf of the manufacturer, and we do not claim factory authorization. For most everyday repairs this makes no practical difference: a thermocouple, igniter, blower motor, pressure switch or flame sensor works the same way whether a dealer or an independent technician replaces it.
Where it can matter is warranty work. If your appliance is still under a manufacturer warranty, check the warranty terms before booking any repair, because some manufacturers require service through their own dealer network. We are happy to help you read the label and find the model and serial number so you can check.
We also do not claim that every model of every brand can be repaired. Very old units, discontinued product lines and some imported designs may have limited parts availability. If that is the case for your appliance, we will tell you early rather than after a wasted visit.
Gas fireplace and stove brands
Gas fireplaces are the largest group of brands we work on. homes built from the 1990s onward commonly have direct vent gas fireplaces from Napoleon, Regency, Heat & Glo, Majestic, Heatilator or Valor. Newer custom homes and renovations often feature modern linear units from Ortal, Montigo, Town & Country, Urbana or Kingsman, while wood and gas stoves from Jøtul, HearthStone, Pacific Energy, Enviro, Kozy Heat, Mendota, Marquis, Stûv America and Empire Comfort Systems show up in older homes and cottages that have moved to the city.
Napoleon fireplace repair
Napoleon is one of the most common gas fireplace brands in Ontario homes. Typical service calls involve pilot assemblies, thermopiles, remote receivers and blower kits. Annual cleaning keeps the glass clear and the flame picture as intended.
Regency fireplace service
Regency gas inserts and fireplaces often come to us with ignition faults, weak flames or fan noise. We clean the burner and pilot, test controls and check the vent termination.
Valor gas fireplace repair
Valor units are known for their radiant heat and distinctive remote systems. We troubleshoot remote and receiver problems, millivolt faults and burner issues.
Heat & Glo, Heatilator and Majestic service
These builder-grade and premium units are found in many subdivisions. Common repairs include intermittent pilot ignition modules, wall switches and blowers.
Modern linear fireplaces: Ortal, Montigo, Town & Country, Urbana
Contemporary linear fireplaces need careful handling of large glass panels and decorative media. We clean, inspect and repair these units while protecting the finish around them.
Stoves and inserts: Jøtul, HearthStone, Pacific Energy, Enviro and more
For wood and gas stoves we focus on safe operation, gaskets, venting connections and controls. For wood-burning units, we pair service with a chimney sweep when needed.
Pool heater brands
Pool heaters see heavy use during a short season, which makes reliable spring start-up important. We service gas pool heaters and heat pumps from Hayward, Pentair, Raypak, Jandy and Sta-Rite. Error codes, ignition lockouts, pressure switch faults, sooted heat exchangers and rodent damage after winter are the issues we see most.
Hayward pool heater repair
Hayward heaters are very common backyards. We diagnose error codes, clean burners, check the pressure switch and confirm safe ignition.
Pentair and Sta-Rite pool heater service
Pentair and Sta-Rite heaters share some engineering history. We handle ignition control, flame sensing and water flow issues on both.
Raypak and Jandy pool heater repair
Raypak and Jandy heaters often need attention to igniters, gas valves and heat exchangers. We also help decide when replacement is the better value.
Water heater and boiler brands
We repair and maintain hot water tanks and tankless water heaters from Rheem and condensing water heaters and boilers from Lochinvar, as well as hydronic heat recovery equipment from Seresco. Tankless descaling, venting checks, igniter replacement and leak diagnosis are the services most often booked.
How to find your model and serial number
Having your model number ready helps us bring the right parts on the first visit. Here is where to look for each type of appliance.
- Gas fireplace: the rating plate is usually behind the lower louvre or inside the control compartment under the firebox.
- Gas stove or insert: check the back panel or a chain-attached tag near the controls.
- Pool heater: the data plate is on the side or inside the front access panel.
- Water heater: look for a label on the front of the tank or the side of the tankless unit.
- Furnace: the label is usually inside the lower blower door.
Why brand-aware maintenance matters
Each manufacturer sets its own maintenance steps, clearances and parts specifications. Following them protects performance and safety. For example, the placement of logs or media in a gas fireplace is set by the manufacturer for a reason: incorrect placement can cause soot and incomplete combustion. Pool heaters have specific water flow requirements, and tankless water heaters have recommended descaling intervals that depend on water hardness.
Our technicians follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific model when servicing it. If documentation is unavailable for a very old unit, we take a conservative approach and explain any limits.
Genuine parts and compatible parts
Where possible we use parts specified by the manufacturer for your model. For some common components, an approved universal part may be acceptable and less expensive. We explain the choice before installing anything, and we never fit a part that is not suitable for gas service or not rated for your appliance.
Don't see your brand?
The list above covers the brands we see most homes, but it is not exhaustive. Send us a quote request with a photo of the rating plate and a description of the problem. We will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Common problems by appliance type
Gas fireplaces
Pilot will not stay lit, clicking with no ignition, flame lifts or looks lazy, soot on glass, blower noise, remote failures and a smell during the first burn of the season. Most are repairable with the correct part and a thorough cleaning.
Gas and wood stoves
Poor draft, worn door gaskets, cracked glass, failing thermostats on gas stoves and venting issues where the stove connects to the chimney.
Pool heaters
Ignition lockouts, pressure switch errors, low water flow, sooted burners, corroded heat exchangers and nests or debris after winter storage.
Water heaters
No hot water, inconsistent temperature, scale build-up in tankless units, error codes, leaking relief valves and tank corrosion.
Questions to ask before replacing a branded appliance
We answer these questions honestly for your specific appliance and brand, so the decision is yours and well informed.
- How old is the unit, and what is its typical expected life?
- Are replacement parts still available for this model?
- How does the repair cost compare with the price of a comparable new unit?
- Has the appliance needed repeated repairs in recent years?
- Is there a safety issue that a repair would not fully address?
- Would a different size or type of unit suit how the space is used today?
Getting the most from a brand service visit
Before your appointment, take a clear photo of the rating plate, note any error codes or blinking lights and write down when the problem started. If you still have the owner's manual or installation paperwork, keep it handy. These small steps help our technician diagnose faster and reduce the chance of a second visit for parts.
Brand care tips between service visits
Small habits help any brand of appliance last longer. For gas fireplaces, keep the area in front of the glass clear, avoid placing decorations on top of the unit where heat builds up, and replace remote batteries once a year before the season starts. If you notice the glass turning white or grey, that is usually a normal film from combustion that should be cleaned during service with the correct cleaner, not household glass spray.
For pool heaters, keep plants, mulch and stored pool equipment away from the cabinet and vents, and make sure the pump is running properly, since low water flow is one of the most common reasons a heater refuses to fire. Cover the top of the heater over winter only with an approved cover, never a tarp that traps moisture.
For water heaters, watch for small drips around fittings and the relief valve, and pay attention to rumbling or popping sounds, which often signal sediment in a tank or scale in a tankless unit. Tankless owners should plan on regular descaling based on the manufacturer's recommendation and household use.
Whatever the brand, never remove panels on a gas appliance to investigate a problem yourself. Book a service visit and let a qualified technician handle it safely.
Comparing brands when it is time to replace
If replacement becomes the better option, we can talk you through how different brands and models compare for your space: heat output, venting options, efficiency, remote and app features, appearance and long-term parts support. We do not earn commission from any manufacturer, so our advice is about fit, not sales targets.
